No holiday for 24 years

Just realised that I have not had a holiday since 2001 (Barbados - before my health deteriorated) !!
Its about time that I went somewhere - but where ?
It has to be Wheelchair accessible and English speaking but apart from that I am open to suggestions…

I reckon New Zealand’s got just about everything you’d be looking for, and I’d thoroughly recommend it.
It’s a stunning country, very modern and really well set up for anyone with mobility needs. Most public places, transport and accommodation are wheelchair accessible, especially in the larger towns and cities.
Everyone speaks English, and the locals are genuinely warm and welcoming. The pace of life is nice and laid-back, so it’s a great place to relax without any hassle. You’d have very few problems getting about, as they really do cater for everyone.
And just like here in the UK, they drive on the left-hand side of the road, so if you’re hiring a car, there’s no need to adjust to driving on the right like you would in many other countries.

I know that feeling @Wibbles so I'd already been doing some looking around for holidays that are accessible. It looks like TUI do some decent accessible holidays including help at the airport. Is there anywhere you've always wanted to go?

The problem is that the hotels do not state what makes them "accessible" - I can envisage flying out to Cyprus or similar and regretting paying over £1400 for a week - for a mildly modified room - I need an adjustable bed, pull down shower seat, grab handles and a raised height loo etc - I bet that these hotels are lacking these facilities ! and it's too late to complain once we are there.
That is the reason that we have stayed at home for 24 years.

Have you thought maybe instead of using hotels which don't usually accomodate, to maybe using Air B&B's. I'm sure you can find accessable ones on air b&b and might work out better than an hotel.

My wife needs a break after 24 years - so we need to be catered for !

We stay at Premier Inn when we visit my parents-in-law and even paying £150+ per night does not meet my needs !
They do not even have an increased height disabled friendly toilet in their accessible rooms !

My main worry is that I use an electric wheelchair which does not fold up and even going to a concert I can imagine would be an expensive nightmare getting there and back so a holiday abroad is something I would really need to pray works

1998 since I last left this island, I started well, but petered out much too soon.
What about the Channel Islands?
