Light touch or not?
Hi just curious as to if anyone can help me with this. My review started March of this year my current award runs out in November this year. As I will be of state pension age in a couple of weeks, will it go to a light touch review or will they go on the original one they have started?Any help much appreciated thank you 🙂

If you are on PIP at State Pension age, your award/claim is automatically switched to an indefinite award (10 years). You will be still receiving your PIP award. I would think it would be a Light Touch if the review is run.

I was reviewed in September (up to tribunal stage but DWP put my award up before having to go to Tribunal). I reached pension age this month. My award letter says on going award but it states an award date to March 2028 and not a light touch of 10 years?? Does this mean I will be assessed again in 2028 even though I am now a pensioner?? I have been on PIP since 2019. I am confused regarding the on going statement and then given a 3 year award (even though the date I became a pensioner was only a short period away)?
Thanks

Hi
You will need to contact them to clarify this.

Yes, an on going or an indefinite award is 10 years. They say 10 years because they will contact you after 10 years. It would be a light touch review for you now.

Another member of this forum had the same - an on going award but an end date 3 years into the future. On going or indefinite awards are 10 years. I suggested to that member to call PIP to clarify.
When you reach State Pension age and you have a PIP award, your award automatically switches to an indefinite award (10 years).
Did you get your award letter before the State Pension date?
Now you are a State Pensioner your award will now be 10 years. Unfortunately I don't know all the ins and outs that may affect claimants near State Pension age and have a review.
