Thanks for the heads up - I was unaware of this - Octopus have NEVER emailed me informing me of saving sessions - despite my repeated requests……….

I'll do my best to max out today. I managed to double my credit during the second session - total now £2 woohoo!
They pay us to freeze in wintertime but it's all good fun eh 😄

I have been with Ecotricity for many years, can you not see my halo? 💫

No filters - I have asked Octopus many many times why they don't add me to their email list and every time they apologise and promise to email me next time
I have complained to the 'issueresolution@octopus .energy' address with no response many times too !!

Wibbles, did you get notified of today's free hour?
I'm exhausted from my efforts today but the place is clean and I've got jacket potatoes to heat up quickly during the coming heatwave when I will NOT be cooking. Or doing much else. 33 degrees expected in London on Tuesday 😶
I wonder how Octopus measures 'normal use' and whether July's free hour at the same time on a Saturday made much difference to that? If it's measured across the year, it probably wouldn't.

No I didn't - I emailed Octopus to ask why and was told
"I’m really sorry to hear that you haven’t received the emails regarding the free electricity sessions. I completely understand how disappointing this must be for you, and I appreciate your patience.
This year, we are implementing a regional approach for the sessions, which means you may not be invited to every session. This change is to ensure we comply with the service operator's new requirements and to avoid having too many people saving power at the same time.
I can assure you that you are opted into the sessions and emails, and as soon as a session for your area becomes available, you will be notified.
If you have any further questions or need assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m here to help!"
This doesn't help me at all - because it was NOT a local / regional area offer - it was the whole country !!

The only other thing I'd suggest, just as a test more than anything, is trying a different email address
Not that it should make a difference… but is your email client a bit of a niche one, as opposed to a common one like GMail or iCloud?

Yes it is - I pay for it - I have checked and it is not blocked !

I'm with octopus and they've not told me anything about this

@Wibbles have you checked it's not blocked on both sides?
i.e. both of: Octopus is not rejecting your email provider; and your provider isn't rejecting Octopus
I'd say if it's a paid service, especially one of the ones that market themselves on privacy like Proton Mail, they often do stuff like that as part of the security and such that you pay for
Do you have an account with Octopus that you can log in to and manage?? Are you able to try a different address just to rule stuff out?

Maybe it's the type of tariff you are both on? No idea. Check the T's & C's.
In terms of complaints, Wibbles, I couldn't get a sensible response to a complaint I made, over and over again so I left in frustration. I'm sure I was dealing with bots.
It was really easy to switch back 🐙

66Mustang, I was thinking more about the variable day/night tariff options and the smart meter tracker options being excluding factors.
