Firstly, welcome to Scope!
You have just gone through something incredibly intense, a heart attack and surgery, and now you are home, trying to make sense of it all. That’s overwhelming and frightening, and what you are feeling right now is completely normal. But that doesn’t make it any easier to cope. Many people feel anxious, even terrified, in the weeks after a heart attack.
The good news is, the stents you received are life saving. They are helping your heart get the blood it needs, which is a huge step in your recovery. The fact that you are home means your doctors felt you were stable enough to leave the hospital, which is a good sign.
It might not feel like it now, but this fear will pass. Recovery is not just physical, emotionally, you need time to process everything that’s happened. It may seem hard to imagine, but eventually, you will settle into a new normal. I was told a few years ago that I was in heart failure, and at first, it dominated my every thought. Now, I hardly ever think about it. You have been through a lot, and the best thing you can do right now is give yourself time to adjust. Wishing you all the best in your recovery.
