Could I have autism?..

I’m not self diagnosing myself but other than my severe anxiety/ptsd etc as a child I always remember being extremely introverted, obsessed with books . Didn’t like the feel of certain materials on my hands and feet . And as I’ve got older noise and smells ( the smells I noticed even as a child ) really irritate me and can actually make me angry /overwhelmed . Outside noise can be my downstairs neighbour just coughing ( I live in a flat ) or talking , closing doors etc . To sometimes I can’t even have background noise like the tv etc and if they is to many ppl talking all at once it sounds weird I feel like my brain is going to explode. Smells some can give me a headache make me feel sick especially say if I smell smoke it takes over . I fixate a lot on things and I’m very OCD about certain things , plugs , checking knobs on oven etc . I haven’t really mentioned this to my gp as I think gawd as if I’m not enough of a headache for them with everything I have going on 🤦♀️. It was just me wondering , or could it just be part of my obsessive ways and anxiety I don’t know ? I was abused as a child , raped in my teens then sexually assaulted in work place which obviously now I have severe trauma and PTSD. Hope it’s ok to post asking . Thank you . 🙏
Tracie :)

Sounds like you could have some autistic traits, there is an extremely long wait time for autism diagnosis's at the moment with many people waiting years. The NHS guideline is everyone should have their first appointment/assessment within 13 weeks from referral, however only around 4% (9000) of referrals were seen within 13 weeks (200k+ total referrals per year) with some people waiting upto 7 years.
Were not allowed to diagnose on this forum, so can't tell you have it or not. But I would do some research on it and contact your GP if you suspect so you can be put on the waiting list asap.

Thank you Ruben16 I might mention it to the counsellor see what they say . I’m not wanting to gain anything just maybe if I knew it would clarify a lot with certain behaviours I have . Or if could just be simply part of my trauma and how I deal with things not sure but I guess it’s worth mentioning . :)

just had a Quick Look and the stimming thing I notice I hum a lot when anxious or in situations where I don’t feel comfortable. Not even a particular song just a hum made up noise , and I’ve done that for years more so when highly stressed . Interesting . It’s only as I’m older I notice all these things more . I have a lot of what I say are my weird little ways . Lol x
