🚨 Emergency Alerts test Sunday 7 September at 3pm 🚨

The UK government will be carrying out a national test of the Emergency Alerts system on Sunday 7 September at 3pm.
Compatible mobile phones and tablets will receive an alert, make a loud siren-like sound and vibrate. Find out more at gov.uk/alerts.
The Emergency Alerts system is used to warn if there’s a danger to life nearby, including extreme weather. Regular testing ensures the system is functioning correctly, should it need to be used in a life-threatening emergency.Â
It is an important tool for reaching the public in emergency situations. Since the first national test of the system in April 2023, five alerts have been sent, including during major storms when lives were at risk.
However, for those who need it, information on how to opt out is available on gov.uk/alerts.
You can also learn about how to prepare for an emergency at gov.uk/prepare.

Not on my phone, alerts are disabled.

We'd strongly suggest having notifications for emergency alerts turned on @Zeuss , you could miss some life saving, time critical information.

Thank you for the reminder, I have put it into my diary so I'm not freaked out when it goes off.

Mine's switched off from alerts, quite happy to just look out of the window if anything to see ha ha 🫠.

There is no chance of a flood or fire near me, if there should be an earthquake I will feel it,if WW3 breaks out I will sit here watching the news with a crate of cider😎

Not for me, have turned that nonsense off

Mine have always been on, I think by default, I received nothing from the test though, but actually, if something was about to happen, I'd rather not know.
In fact, twice there have been fires above me & even though there were an awful lot of fire wagons, police & ambulances below my lounge window, I didn't have a scooby. Thankfully, nobody was hurt in either fire, just scared witless & probably mentally scarred. I know one lovely family definitely were, poor souls.

Three had a problem with customers not getting the blooming first one lol. Not heard a thing about them since, thought the whole thing had disappeared to be honest.

My phone has been on silent mode at all times since 2012, unless I'm waiting for a call. Ages ago, I developed sensitivity to noise and even ordinary noise, and whenever my phone rang I used to jump up. I still have it, though it has subsided since I've quit smoking and taking sleeping tablets. Therefore, I won't risk to jump up when the alert is activated.
