Hi, my name is JoyousB90! When should I let the DWP know about my knee operations?
I was awarded PIP about 3 months ago - 12 points in Mobility section.
Just had word that my first knee replacement (RIGHT) will be on 15 September, the second (LEFT) tba.
At what point do I let the DWP know about my 1st operation - before or after?
And, if anyone knows, does the same apply for ESA (Employment Support Allowance) ?
I have never claimed any benefits before so not really sure on what to do.
Many thanks, in advance.

Heya @JoyousB90 and a very warm welcome to the community. I hope you're managing to stay cool and hydrated?
With regard to your PIP claim, it's best to only advise them of a change of circumstance if you feel it would change the award you're receiving. As it could trigger a reassessment and that can cause your benefit to go up or down.0 -
Thank you, it's hot in Northumberland l.
The first op won't really improve my mobility because both knees are bone on bone, so I'll hang fire for now.
Thank you 👍
