LCWRA and a side hustle.
Hi guys,
I’ve asked similar before and got some great answers, thank you.
But I’m really confused about the ability to work on LCWRA UC.
I have asked in my journal and got a speedy reply which is great.
But to be honest it’s confused me more. lol.
Basically my wife gets LCWRA UC. We also get the housing element which doesn’t cover a lot of our rent.
I also get carers allowance and carers element on my UC.
Can someone who has worked while on LCWRA please answer a couple of questions for me.
We are considering making some extra cash to cover our recent rent increase of around £150 a month by buying and selling some vintage toys and dolls etc…
Am I correct in thinking that my wife needs to register as self employed and then we can sell to a maximum of £411 per month? Without it affecting our UC?
Also, will it affect our carers allowance? I’ll still be caring for a lot more than 35 hours per week and only making around £100-150 a month extra from the sales we make
Also, as I won’t be making the same amount every month how do I let UC know what we’ve earned?
Do we pay tax on the extra £100-150 we make a month?
Sorry for the long message but we’re very confused by it all
Thank you very much for your time
:)
