Is the UK's System of Democracy really Democratic?

How come in almost every single election a party with a minority of the votes gets the majority of the seats in Parliament, which in fact means that the majority of votes that went to other parties have no say on policy and how their country would be run!

Wouldn't you say that democracy is rather a system in which decisions that are made reflect the wishes of the majority of the people?

"A country that gives equal voice to every person, that's the Britain we're building. On electoral reform, we've got to address the fact that millions of people vote in safe seats and they feel their vote doesn't count and that has got to be addressed. We'll never get full participation in our electoral system until we do that at every level. We need to address that." - Keir Starmer, 2020.

Once elected, he says: "Proportional representation is not our policy, we won't be making time for it."

If you ask those currently in power (or their supporters), then the answer is yes the current system works fine

If you ask anyone not in power (or their supporters), then the current system is not representative and needs changing
