Savings Threshold

I can't remember if I've asked about this or not. Is the savings threshold of £6000 out of date? I thought I saw somewhere on here that that £6000 figure is going by 2007 rates? Am I right?

    It's still £6k.

    Aa far as I know no changes have been made to that figure for quite some time.

    @Stickman

    A problem is people with benefits who have a few thousand pounds is such a niche area that there aren't many people to defend that group, and the public/government listen to big groups

    On one hand there are the stereotypical Daily Mail readers who oppose people claiming benefits of any kind, full stop

    On the other hand many who are on benefits or who do understand the need to claim are struggling financially to save anything at all, or even are in debt…and so think people who can save £6,000 are wealthy enough and shouldn't claim any help

    The fact that lots of necessary expenditure, such as disability equipment or healthcare, costs well over £6,000 seems irrelevant 🙁

    As I said, shocking.
