UC for disabled "child" after 19
Hi I'm trying to find out what happens when my daughter gets to 19 and my UC stops for her as she won't be able to work and I will loose a big chunk of my UC and we won't survive on the leftovers. She gets high pip for both elements. I read that UC will pay up to age 21 and also the child benefit ?? Any advice would be great.
Thanks

Hi @creativebrat, welcome to the community. Would your daughter meet the eligibility to apply for her own UC claim? That may help with the loss of your child element.
Or if she's not able to manage the claim herself, you or someone else she knows can apply to be her appointee:

I'm looking more at this rather than her claim UC.

Hi @creativebrat, As far as I'm aware, the child element (including the disabled child element) can only be paid up until a child is 19. I can't find any official documentation that confirms that it can go on until they're 21, so it may be that Google's AI may have got confused on this one. AI isn't always reliable for information on benefits, it's always best to go off the information on official government websites.
But if you need to discuss your daughter's claim, it may be worth speaking to a benefits adviser just to confirm the best way forward. Turn2Us have a database to search for someone local if you'd like to do that:
