MR for award length

Hi everyone, I really don't know what to do for the best. Any advice or help would be very much appreciated.
My pip review started last October. Sent in my form with written statements, & lots of evidence of how my disability effects me.
I had a paper based assessment & was thrilled to have my award increased from standard to enhanced on both components . The award is until 2030. When I will be 63 years old. My health conditions will never improve.
So my dilemma is can I or should I, do a M R for the length of the award. Or just be satisfied with my award & leave it ?
Thank you in advance

Hi @saversam, it's a really tough decision to make. The problem with going to an appeal is they will usually look at your whole claim. Without wishing to scare you, that could possibly result in your points or award going down instead of up as it'll all be looked at. But it's so hard to know what the outcome will be and there's nothing to say that you wouldn't get the result you're after.
I hope some of our members might be able to share their experiences of this and how it went for them ☺️

Thank you for your reply. Yes I,m so torn on what to do, but the thought of going through another review is terrifying, (I was hoping for it to be a ongoing award), as is the thought of losing my award!

I did an MR for the length of my PIP just after Christmas. I wrote that I was happy with the scores but disagreed with the length of my award. They looked at the whole thing again. Fortunately, they agreed with the scores too and they remained unchanged. The length of my award was changed from 4 years to 10 years!!! I was very shocked but extremely relieved

That's a brilliant outcome. You must of been thrilled, & so relieved! I think I am leaning towards a MR, but I guess I just need some reassurance. I,m really not a rock the boat sort of person!
Can I ask if it was a hard process & did you have to ring them to start the process?
Thank you

If you have completely reliable peer-reviewed medical data to support your belief your condition will never improve i.e. there are absolutely no possible untried treatments/therapies available, then it's possible a MR is more likely to be successful.
I went to appeal (having had the award increased at MR), because I was unaware the duration of an award could also be reconsidered.
For the appeal, I provided substantial, reliable, peer-reviewed, medical reports/data confirming there were no untried treatments/therapies available to even potentially improve my condition.
DWP contacted me prior to appeal to amend the award to ten years, rather than three and also to increase the points awarded in Daily Living - the increased points made no difference to the element awarded (enhanced).
Tbh, I think it was them letting me know they had reviewed the entire application not just the duration as I had specifically requested.
At the time, I did not realise the massive risk I was taking as it was my first application. Fortunately, it worked out for me.

Thank you very much for your detailed reply. It,s really helped. Yes I think I,ve got enough evidence, but a big part of me just wants to be grateful for what I,ve got! & keep quite!

I had got to the point of being so fed up with the constant reviews I just went for it. The thought of doing the whole thing again so soon was too much. I didn’t phone them - I filled an MR form in on gov.uk explaining why I thought their decision was wrong and printed it out and posted it (signed for) along with some evidence saying my condition is considered permanent (which I had sent before but had been ‘overlooked’). I didn’t have any new evidence. PIP texted me to say they’d received it and then again to give me a date they hoped to have looked at it by. I then just got my new letter extending the length. I never spoke to anyone at all and didn’t really do much.

It is a really difficult decision to make.
Good luck with whatever you decide.
