lodger
Hi Everyone!
I have a question, Im on Adult Disability Payment (Scottish PIP) and New Style Esa (not means tested) and I wanted to take a lodger in. If Im using The Rent-a-Room Scheme (which allows income of £7500 to be tax free) the actual annual income would be £1500 . Would this affect my benefits? Do I need to notify anyone (benefits)? No one asked when I applied, I dont think, if I live alone or not. Also what if lodger also is on disability?

Hi @Valkiria, welcome to the community. As New Style ESA is not means tested and neither is ADP, taking a lodger shouldn't affect your benefits. It's only if you were receiving something means tested that you might need to report it.
If your lodger is also on benefits, this shouldn't affect you either ☺️
