Hi, my name is sunny1234! Retiring in December, how soon should I claim for housing benefit?

Hi i am on universal credit and work part time and I retire Dec , how soon can I claim for housing benifit ; or how do I find out how much help I will be entitled to , I know I will not be entitled to pension credit as I will be approx £5.00 over !!!!!!!! As I am stressing about it at the moment . Please can you give some advice , I have made phone calls but nobody will give me much advice . Thank you

You can claim for Housing Benefit once you reach state pension age.
You'll also need to inform UC that you've reached spa.
You can use a benefits calculator to estimate your entitlement, filling out the details as if you were already retired.
Or try a local welfare rights organisation.
