Text on picture: If you are on a means-tested benefit, you will qualify for the Warm Home Discount. Check you are named on your electricity bill by 24 August to get £150 off this winter.

    My husbands name is on the electric bill , mine isn't but we are both on the universal credit claim . Also we recently moved does that mean we no longer qualify for the winter warm home discount ?

    Hi @sarah_lea12 it will depend on whether or not you're on means tested benefits. You could always contact your supplier to enquire. 😊

    Did they announce this on the 20th and say 24th is the cutoff date for being named on a bill?

    Thats a bit tight. Luckily I am on mine as I live alone anyway.

    No the 20th is when Holly made her post. It was announced nationally quite a few months ago.

    Newsnight tonight… Mr Octopus Energy told viewers that their energy bills will go up to pay for the Warm Home Discount Scheme. Nice.

    thank you for letting us know funny enough my parents were talking about this when I was away in South Africa they got a text before me then I got a text but we think it's a scam.

    durhamjaide, if that text was from your energy supplier then it's probably genuine. It should be paid automatically if it was last time.

    Hi Holly, we get Universal credit , we have a new energy supplier , my husband can email them hopefully they can tell us .
