Pip Mandatory decision phone call

Hello all and thanks in advance for any advice given :)
I have been on the standard daily living component for PIP for a couple of years now
I recently added another condition (patella chondromalacia in my left knee)
I was told my award had not changed even though I really struggle
I find it hard to walk and regularly need to stop, I wear a knee support all the time, my knee constantly makes crunching noises and seems to be getting worse, I buckle when out walking and find it hard to go up and down stairs (especially down!)I can't drive for long periods due to the pain, I had an MRI to confirm my condition and am now awaiting physio and taking strong painkillers
After requesting a mandatory reconsideration I received a call today 29/08/25 and was told I need to answer some questions before they can make thier decision
Guy on the phone was really nice and asked if I had been on holiday in the past 6 months and if my bank details were still the same
He also asked about my mental health, if I had been sectioned before or stayed in a hospital recently..which is strange as that doesn't have anything to do with my reconsideration (it is more to do with the patella chondromalacia update) although my original claim is for mental health
So my question is..(apologies for the long essay..)
What does the call mean?
My award will stay the same again?
They may award me the mobility part due to my condition?
What was all the questions?
Is it normal to receive a call like this with a mandatory reconsideration?
He said i should receive my decision within 5-7 days by post
He also did ask if I had a disability badge?
Thanks again for your patience reading this and for any advice! :)

I have known several people who have received a call after asking for an MR. The Decision Maker can ring to clarify information that you provided and to ask for any information that might help them to make a decision. Usually a call like this is a positive sign but I wouldn't read too much into this. Asking whether you have been on holiday may be a way of trying to find out a little more about your mobility. I know someone who had been on holiday and was asked how he got from the check in desk to the departure gate. Similarly with a Blue Badge if someone has been issued with one this suggests that they struggle with their mobility.
