Support worker advice

Hey, I’d like some advice please. I’ve recently gotten a new support worker and I’ve only met them once. Everytime they text me they say “Hey Beaut” which I don’t understand why they’re doing that when I’m a married man? It’s making me feel uncomfortable. Am I overthinking this or is it completely inappropriate of the new support worker? My wife doesn’t like it either of course. My old one never used to call me anything other than by my name.

First, it is inappropriate. They ought to address you by your forename or title and surname.

Secondly, it's impersonal. The same salutation could be used for every client, irrespective of age or gender.

I'd write a polite and friendly message by letter, email, or post asking them to call you Jack or Mr/Ms Jackson… or whatever you are comfortable with.

Hey @Jackson87 It may just be a case of that's how they greet people, trying to be friendly and such.

If you find it's a problem, I'd recommend just speaking to them and asking them not to as it's making both you and your wife uncomfortable.

That's slightly different. Until a couple of yours ago, I knew an elderly Londoner who always called me "Darlin'". @Jackson87 is writing about a professional relationship that has made him and his wife uncomfortable. It's the banter of the supermarket queue rather than friendly professional communication.
