Summer time?

Hope you like this.

Summer Time.

Summertime is here again,

And the heat has begun to rise.

To change that Duvet from the springtime tog

I wondered how I survived.

Oh, wait a minute, the nights are getting shorter

I must have missed those summer nights

With Barbies and the sauna.

The leaves are an indication

That there is a change due

They have changed from a dark green

To a light tan hue.

My garden is now full of leaves

Rustling as you walk

Some are not so crunchy

It’s because of all that rain.

The wind is picking up

As the storm is on its way

When Gabriel blows his horn

It's rain, that’s on its way.

Do I have time to clear the yard

Before I get that downpour

Or will I start something

And forget to get indoors

Oh no, its too late, those Black clouds I can see

Looking down the valley, that rain heading this way.

Unplug the electric mower and the hedge cutter, too.

Too late, It’s got here now it’s time to flee.

Howling wind and rain I’m stuck under this tree

Will I make a run for it, or wait till it goes away.

My wife shouts from the back door, ‘What are you doing out there’

I’m having my yearly bath, no, I’ll think I take a shower.

Some people have no sense of humour, as she slammed the door on me

I thought, I’m for it now, I need a cup of tea.

I run across the grass, now glistening and bright green

To slip by the back door, I thought I was not seen.

My wife was hysterical, she had seen it all

And pointed up the valley, the rain had all but gone.

While you’re down there, she had to retort

Can you pick the clothes pegs that have fallen on the floor?

The moral of the story is, enjoy each day, each day, because nature can change when it likes. Take a camera with you everywhere you go, because I have a picture of a snowy angle now without any snow in my album. Still makes me laugh when it’s hot or cold….

The summer is very short i find. I can see leaves turning brown and feel a nip in the air at night. I think Billy Connolly was right. In Scotland, we have 2 seasons. Winter and July.
