hi everyone, I’m in need of some advice please!!

I’ve just started my own (self employed) business being a personal assistant/companion/cleaner and a lady wants to use my services, however she gets PIP payments, which don’t pay for what I do.

Does anyone know a way around this please?

You can spend PIP on anything, unless a person only has an enhanced mobility award which has been exchanged for a Motability car, there are no restrictions.

    Thank you.

The lady was told (not sure who by) that because I was self-employed, and not agency or ltd company her PIP payments wouldn’t cover my services and she’d have to pay out of her own pocket.

PIP (aside from the circumstances above) goes into a claimants bank account.

The claimant gets to spend that money how they want.

There are no rules, restrictions or checks.

Does the lady already pay towards local authority care? PIP usually is counted in those kind of financial assessments.

Do you mean that the lady's PIP is inadequate to pay for the amount of work you do for her?

Perhaps she needs to report a deterioration in her condition in the hope that she will be awarded enhanced Daily Living. Otherwise, the poor soul will have to pay you from other income or savings. PIP doesn't go far for people on their own as your client appears to be.

I’ll ask her these questions and get back to you.

Many thanks for you help and advice.

This is absolutely not true. Claimants can pay/reimburse family/ friends/ neighbours or any self-employed person.
