Mandatory reconsideration
Hi I hope you can help as I honestly have no idea what to do now.. I’ve just had my letter that says that I do not have limited capability for work. And I don’t know where to go from here.
I’m severely deaf and worked in retail for 16 years but have had no issues up until these last couple of years. However my hearing suddenly dropped from no where. Doctors and specialists don’t have a clue why. Hearing aids haven’t helped and there’s no hearing aids which can help for my hearing type now. My only option now is a cochlear implant which can take upwards of 4 years.
I’m now unable to go out on my own, have severe anxiety, depression and stomach issues due to this. My hours have been dropped at work as my boss is “sick of customers complaining about me being rude” as I either mishear them or not hear them at all.. I’m having panic attacks at work as the thought of having another customer have a go at me again sends me into panic..
What do I do?

You need to first ask them to look again at the decision
Very few decisions change at MR so the next step is appealing to an independent appeal tribunal. This has a much higher success rate.
Focus your argument about where you fit:

sounds stupid but how do I ask them to look at it again? And when do I do it? They did the decision today when do I ask them to look at the decision again? Thank you for your reply

You have 13 months to ask for an MR, but ideally it should be done within a month starting from the date of the decision.
Each set of purple text in my reply is a web link for further information.
The Turn2Us link will help you locate a local welfare rights organisation.
The first link after that has tips for writing an MR and the form you need to fill in.
We always recommend doing these things in writing as if you do it over the phone the person might not record the information correctly.
