Hi all. I have been claiming back 50% for a number of years. I recently changed my car and set about clawing back my 50%. I tax full up front online and then send in relevent PIP notice letter. The car was taxed from beggining of April 25 and i started my claim the start of May. According to DVLA my PIP forms could have gone into a black hole. I sent in a second PIP notice, then, the first one"s were sent back!!!. A few weeks later the second one"s were returned. Problem is, no refund has gotten to me despite my emails to the DVLA stating this. No feedback or progress reports sent to me and a six week turnaround in anything to doo with them is bonkers and frustrating. Thanks.

Hi @shortsocks, sorry you haven't received a reply to this yet.

If you can't get through to them, have you considered putting in a formal complaint? Sometimes that can help jog things into action. https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/driver-and-vehicle-licensing-agency/about/complaints-procedure

Hope you can get some answers soon!

I don't think that you can do this on-line / via post with DVLA - You have to do it in-person at the post office !

Could be the reason that your paperwork has been returned ?

That is for the full reduction with Enhanced PIP.

The 50% reduction with Standard PIP can only be made by posting forms to DVLA.

(I have no idea why they've made it so complicated!)

As it happens, I am in a similar position to the OP, waiting for my refund since posting the forms. So I will update if mine goes through ok.

Jeeesss. This is getting weird. Top & bottom is, I will have to send in PIP details again,(3rd time) no guarantee it will work mind you. Also, proof that i taxed vehicle at the full rate and that i am the owner. How nut"s is this? Are"nt they the people who hold this info? πŸ˜€πŸ€’

Good luck wibbles, something going on there at DVLA. They have come out with some crazzy things over this. One thing was, having a DVLA stamp with date on you"re PIP form is not proof of posting to themπŸ™ˆπŸ™‰πŸ™Š. Another (just for laughs and giggles) proof you"re vehicle is taxed. On that one i told them to use the website the police use.

Didn't you send the V5 as proof of ownership? That is a requirement shown on the form.

I'm not aware of proof of taxing it though, they definitely can access that their system!

Just to update this, my paperwork was returned yesterday, so it's only taken around 2 weeks (excluding postage times) for it to be checked in my case.

The letter sent with the paperwork says it could take 6-8 weeks to receive the refund if it is due, which suggests that it hasn't been fully processed so far.
