I don't have an answer, but it's an interesting question.
I hope someone comes along and provides a definitive answer for you.
That said, the process does not rely on diagnosis/es, or it shouldn't.
My experience was that my repeat prescription sheet confirmed my diagnoses, the fact I was undergoing investigations/therapy, and an ability to speak consistently and in detail regarding my day-to-day life and difficulties, saw me awarded enhanced DL, and standard mobility. I chose to not request a MR, as I was not in a place to deal with the stress of it all.
Months later, when relevant legislation came to my attention, I submitted an Appeal. My award was increased by DWP, to enhanced on both, prior to Tribunal.

Evidence provided from any source ought to be taken into account: family, carers, close friends. Many people are diagnosed outside the NHS for various reasons including waiting lists. Rare conditions are sometimes diagnosed outside this country. Remember PIP is about how you function not your diagnoses. No all claimants are diagnosed.

Hi medical evidence is not currently required.
Its all about how your disability impacts your level of functioning.

I have never experienced them lying or cheating, just maybe giving a difference of opinion that we may disagree with.

I don't consider myself lucky at all
The whole process was extremely stressful and it took its toll on my health.
