Migration to universal credit

hi I got my letter last Friday. I did the claim for universal credit. I did my identification check and an payment till 11 October. My concern is that will I get the same amount of money as I’m getting now on Esa or am I gonna be worse off? I did get my migration letter. I know that it says you get protection, but I’m very concerned and stressed out can anyone give me any advice?

I, myself have moved on to Universal Credit.
I feel worse off, and I find it very difficult, even though I see so many adverts saying that Universal Credit is smooth.

Hi @ahones3169, welcome to the community ☺️ sorry to hear you're feeling so stressed out by your migration, it can be a really worrying time.
It can depend on your personal circumstances, but in most cases you shouldn't be worse off on Universal Credit. Did you get any disability premiums on your ESA?
Do you know if you'll be receiving any transitional protection?
Experiences can vary from case to case so while some people do have a tough time transitioning over to UC, there are also plenty who find it goes smoothly. I hope yours goes well ☺️

Transitional Protection is added if your total UC award is lower than legacy benefits at the time of transfer. This does erode over time as other elements go up or new elements are added.
Turn2Us has a great guide to TP.
UC is more complex as it's paid monthly (30 days). Payments can look wrong but are right, due to legacy benefits being paid weekly, there are 4.3 weeks in a month.
To convert a weekly benefit into a monthly you multiply the weekly amount by 52 then divide by 12.
