Time abroad advice

Hello, I have PIP and I was planning on going to Camp America, I've never been out of the country for more than 3 weeks and I don't know what I need to do and whether I'll lose my PIP. If I go next summer I will be out of the country for between 9 to 12 weeks. I use my payments for medication and cbt but I'm really worried I'll lose it, how do I go about contacting DWP prior to summer next year.

Edit: I have enhanced mobility as I need help planning a journey which is why I'm planning this so long in advance. I have been having cbt since well before I was accepted for PIP which has helped me to find other ways of coping in unfamiliar journeys. Will a trip like this completely cancel my PIP. I currently have PIP until the 23rd October 2027.

As far as I am aware you need to notify PIP that you will be out of the country for more than 4 weeks. I think they will look at individual circumstances to see whether the payments continue while you are away.

Hi @insomniagamer, @Otteline is right in that you need to notify PIP if you intend to be out of the country for over 4 weeks. In general, you should be able to still claim PIP if you are out of the country for up to 13 weeks, or 26 weeks if it's for medical treatment according to Gov. Hope that helps and you're able to make your trip. It sounds exciting. I've always wanted to go to America myself 😊
