Hi, my name is justcool! Asking for a MR over length of award.
Hi all.
Just joined. I was on PIP & given a 5 year award which was awarded at a tribunal first-tier. which ran from dec 2020-dec 2025. This time after receiving my review decision last week, It has gone down to a 3 year award. I learned after talintaking with the case manager last weekj they originally only gave a 2 year award, increased to a 3 year award now. Which really is only 2.5 years by the time a review will be sent.
i disagree and have requested a MR of the award lenglength and not the amount as I am now 5 years older than when my previous claim was back dated to at my tribunal.
Also I still live in supported housing and have regular ongoing support for various things.I will ask my support worker for a short letter & send my pip tribunal award letter which states a 5 year award. My circumstances are the same, stable but if anything having an added heart condition only adds to my issues and circumstances. I have asked that they revise the shorter 3 year award for a longer_term award given the above circumstances
It is only the length of my award and not the amount of my pip award I am disputing. Mentioned this is my 3rd spell in a supported housing flat since 1998 and I was on dla during the 2 previous stays in supported living and now pip in my current supported living flat, so there is a pattern of severe difficulties that is unlikely to improve sigificant enough to get better by sept 2028. So hoping for a longer award this time around or I will have to go to another tribunal which I am confident of winning again.
Good luck everyone.

Heya @justcool and welcome to the community. 😊
I've noticed a trend over the past year of many people only being awarded 3 year awards, which seems very odd. I had an MR over my own length of award and managed to get it extended to 5 years shortly before the tribunal.
I'll be keeping everything crossed for you. It may not even make it as far as a tribunal, many MRs over length of award are being allowed before the tribunal, so I'm hoping you'll be ok.😁

Albus_scope. Thanks for reaching out, yes , I was surprised at getting just a 3 year award down from my original 5 year award which was given to me at tribunal. I am , as you know just disputing the award length itself as I am glad and greatfful of getting pip again at the same rate.
I will send my letter off soon stating why I believe they are wrong in only giving me much shorter award and have stated certain factors they overlooked. I will send a copy of my previous tribunal 5 year award in 2021 to add to my MR letter and hopefully I can be given at least a 5 year award, although a longer award would be better this time around being 5 years older. But i'm good with a 5 year award if offerd that to be honest. As I believe ,after that a longer award would likely be given anyway after being sent another review.
Thanks again. All the best .

You got 5 years from a Tribunal, and the DWP would have only given two years, I understand what the case manager is saying. I lost all the extra points awarded at a Tribunal at my next review and had to fight again..... Can you see what I am saying? Best of luck with the MR.

Thanks for your replies. I am re-writing my MR request letter today. Learning that some minor adjustments need to be made.
I can only try anyway. Hopefully they will extend my pip award.
All the best.👍
