On going award

I recently received an update to my claim after an MR that was forwarded to tribunal. It was sorted and increased by DWP before a tribunal hearing. My husband was just putting away all the paperwork and noticed that although the decision said - I have also decided there will be no need for future reviews and your award will be on going - my award says the award is from 1 April 2025 to 13 March 2028?? Will this mean it will automatically be given for a further period again or does it mean that I have to fill in all the forms again in 2028?? I will be 66 next month so I thought i would get a 10 year light touch if my appeal was successful (but apparently not)?? What does on going award mean?? Thanks

That's a bit of an odd one @Thomo usually ongoing would indeed mean a ten year award. I'd suggest getting in touch with the DWP for some clarification. Though when you're of retirement age, it'll be light touch reviews for sure.

As Albus has stated, an on going award is 10 years. Only thing I can think of is when you are State Pension age which is shortly for you, your PIP award automatically switches to an "indefinite" award (10 years), so this may have been the reason you got an on going award from the DWP. As Albus has stated, it may be best to contact the DWP to verify. At State Pension age and on an "indefinite" award, there will only be " light" touch reviews!

I have today received a telephone call regarding my recent award (put in into a panic straight away!!). In the my decision part of the award where it states -

I have also decided there will be no need for future reviews and your award will be on going -

I am being told this is being reviewed?? as might be incorrect? My review date remains the same 2028. I asked about the fact that I will be 66 in three weeks time so should'nt I have received a light touch ? Apparently no this will be looked at again in the next review.

All my medical proof etc show that I will not improve but will get worse with time. This has fallen on deaf ears and I need to go through another assessment in 2027 (when forms are sent out). This award was accepted by me pre tribunal and the tribunal has been cancelled.

Are they allowed to give an assessment decision and then change it when someone else checks it?? Thanks
