DWP positive experience…

Hi all
I just thought I’d share my positive experience of my appointment at my local job centre today.
Here’s a bit of background:
My earnings kept falling below the AET due to my illness. This triggered a commitments review, then a subsequent WCA form and being told I was to be put on a ‘health journey.’ I told them that I would like to keep working and would I be able to get a fit note saying reduced hours. They said yes and this would cancel the WCA process.
After a bit of hassle with my GP (another story) I got a note saying 10 hours per week for 8 weeks.
I uploaded this for my work coach and was called in for a commitments review. I was sort of nervous about this as I didn’t know what to expect.
So today I went and saw a lovely, understanding lady. She was quite new so wasn’t sure exactly how to proceed as she had a couple of options. After speaking with her manager, my AET has been dropped to 10 hours per week at the minimum wage for 12 months. I no longer have to provide fit notes during this time and they will ring every 3 months just to see how I’m going, if I need any help with anything etc. They said if there’s a time when I’m too poorly to work and it’s not likely to be long term just put a message on my journal so they can prevent it triggering another WCA form. But on the other hand if I did want to go down the WCA route at any point then I could do this.
I feel I was treated with respect and kindness. I was really reluctant to go the WCA route in case it didn’t go my way and I would be forced to look for full time work so I feel this is the right thing for me at this time.
I hope this positive story instills some hope in others.
