To help keep our community safe and supportive, we’ve introduced a more careful keyword filter in line with the Online Safety Act 2023. This means that if a post contains certain flagged words, it won’t appear straight away, but instead it’ll be sent to our team for a quick review first. As we work 10am to 6pm, 7 days a week (barring public holidays) the comments will only be released during this time.

This doesn’t mean anyone’s in trouble! It just helps us check the context and make sure everything’s okay before the post goes live. So if the comment isn't showing up, don't keep trying to post, just sit tight and it'll be released soon. 😊

Thanks for your understanding and for helping us keep the community a safe space for everyone.

Hi @Passerby, I understand your frustration however we want to keep the community civil, supportive, and safe - having a keyword filter allows us to do this. It prevents spam from clogging up the community and alerts us to safeguarding issues. If we were to give out the list of words then people may find ways around it.

We typically work 10am to 6pm so if your comment gets caught in the filter outside of these times it will be posted as soon as we can review it. I know it's a bit inconvenient but it's what's best for the community.

I hope that clears it up a bit.

Ah. I'm guessing the word [removed by moderator] is on the banned list? I used the expression buzz-[removed by moderator] and my comment disappeared.

    Frustrating.

It's almost as though we are being treated as children ….

Hi @Girl_No1. Unfortunately, some people have bad intentions and having the keyword filter helps to minimise the effects of that. We have to follow the guidelines set out by the Online Safety Act which aims to make the internet safer.

I have had to edit your comment as you were trying to bypass the filter. I hope you understand.

I was caught in the filter whilst playing an innocuous word game in the Games Den. The word was "attack".

I was caught in the filter whilst playing an innocuous word game in the Games Den. I've just reposted the word here. The post didn't go through.

This change does not protect us. It disables us further. We can't post news and support one another after 6 pm. Consider some of the words the .MSM uses against disabled people. Those same words quoted here would be filtered.

    You've crippled the forum.

That's incorrect @Zipz posts and comments are still posted on the community, you can see for yourself there's been plenty posted overnight. You just need to be careful with your words so they don't get caught by the filter. It's only filtered comments that won't get posted after 6pm.
We have to comply with the Online Safety Act, or there'd be no community at all.

Chill out it was not a problem and if people read why it's happening it would not happen rather simple explanation given by the moderators as for my conditions I seem ok because I don't harp about them

I personally am not annoyed, or bored, with anyone 'harping on' (as so 'eloquently' put ?) about their conditions, or anything else. Not sure what's quite so difficult in scrolling on if some are not interested in being supportive 🙄.

I could sell you a scooter, I have 2 and a powerchair. Might take a while to drive it to Somerset at 8 mph.

Hi. I sent this message to @Admin_Scope on January 8, and still have not received a response. I just had another message put in the filter, so perhaps you can look at that to see if you can figure out a solution? This is my message….

Hi. When posts are held by the filter, I have noticed there are a few problems:

    1. When the post is released on the forum, it does not go into the queue at the time it is released. Therefore it does not go in the queue properly and is missed.
    2. The person mentioned in the post is not notified that they were mentioned.
    3. The person following the thread is not notified of a new post in the thread.

Is there any way you can address any of these problems?

P.S. This happens to other people's posts too - not just mine.

    Thank you.
