universal credit application

Hi Everyone,
I hope you all are well. I had a question with regards to my son's Universal Credit claim, to clarify he is due to apply.
He was working but he needs to care for me as I am undergoing a surgery, so had to leave work and care for me. I used the benefit calculator and he is eligible for UC as his name is on the tenancy agreement too.
My question is that after the claim is submitted online by my son, what is expected next? Does he need to go to job centre or submit tenancy agreement anywhere? Because our tenancy agreement is from 2021 and since that time rolling forward.
Thank you in advance

He might need to go to the Job Centre for an ID check.
As your carer (assuming you get a qualifying benefit such as PIP), he won't be required to look for work or attend work focused interviews.
Unless you live in social housing, some documentation regarding tenancy and rent liability will be needed.
My advice is for him to submit the most recent documents that are available.
If UC aren't happy, they will request more recent proof which will need to be provided by him asking your landlord.

Thank you for your prompt response Kimi. Yes I received both elements of PIP etc. I will email my landlord to request it in that case. May I kindly ask you if they will definitely, require the tenancy agreement? I have read some posts and some people didnt need one.

Those living in social housing don't need to submit a tenancy agreement or other proof of rent, because UC contact their landlord directly.
Private renters as far as I know do need to submit proof.

Just wanted to keep you updated that the process was very easy and all done online and he got even the advance payment and submitted ID and Tenancy Agreement all online plus accepted his commitments.
However, suddenly couple days ago he received an email for a new commitments meeting which states: "This is to review your situation and agree new commitments. You must accept these to receive Universal Credit". He is currently caring for me and has put name on it too plus they asked him to complete the update Work Profile with his CV etc. Is this normal? That suddenly they call him to the jobcentre?

Did he report caring for you as part of his application?
It sounds like for some reason he hasn't been put into the no work requirements group.
He could add a Journal note (message for work coach) and ask why as a carer he is having to attend for this appointment.

Yes he did and in his advance he even got paid the career element and when he asked in his journal. He got told "Please attend the next mandatory appointment and discuss it with your work coach."
I am confused or not sure wether they have changed the process.

He could speak to the Citizens Advice Help to Claim service, this is a national service run by phone and webchat not linked to your local branch.
It might be that UC do need him to attend and it'll be a one off.

Thats what I think. Do you think it worth messaging work coach again and mentioning this? Also to add he requested to change his work coach meeting with someone else as the previous work coach was ignoring his questions

It's entirely up to him if he wants to send another Journal message or not.

My son just spoke with Universal Credit on the Journal and Phone. They stated that this meeting is to understand more about him and caring responsibilities, they even mentioned that they could do it over the phone due to my illness but better to do it f2f with ID and proof address. Something, my understanding was that they started to do it recently. Also, they stated that everything is fine with the claim.
I thought to keep you all updated, just in case someone else is going through the same issue. Thanks again for all your help!
