What’s with the “Standard” rate whrn a person HAS clearly multiple Health issues!!

Hello, All

This maybe me being either petty or sound ungrateful YET I’ve again been in opinion under “Rated” for my PIP Renewal!! Now I’m grateful to even have an award yet I feel & also being told by numerous health “professionals” that I SHOULD be on FULL or Higher rate of BOTH elements 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️


Does or is anyone else getting that sort of thing??!!

    Hi,

    Everyone on PIP has health conditions (usually multiple) to qualify for even the Standard rates.

    There is no 'full' or 'higher' rate of PIP. The Enhanced rate of PIP is for people who's lives are deemed to be even more restricted than the majority of people with disabilities and long term health conditions.

    Health professionals are not benefits professionals, they should not be advising on which rates of PIP you are entitled to. Have you checked the descriptors to see how you'd many points you'd score yourself if you were the assessor? Unfortunately the DWP have a fairly narrow view of disabilities. Just because we have obvious conditions and limitations does not automatically mean we are entitled to any PIP at all, let alone the Enhanced rates.
