Moving gps

Hello all

I am wondering if I change gp practices will I be put through a pip reassessment.

Do I HAVE to inform pip that I have changed gp practice..

Reason I am thinking of moving to a new gp practice is that the one I am with now since birth is beginning to fail in giving out the correct amount of my meds on my repeated script.

I have in the last 4 months have to ohone and ask can the items missing g be given on a new script and then I've to wait 72 hours to pick the new script up.

Ive been getting the same meds foe the last 13 years.

It's getting harder to get throught to the gp practice as there's always a long queue. The only one that can correct this qould be my gp but new rules in the practice now states I have to ring at 10am on a Monday morning to get an appt with a gp if and when I do mange to get through and all apps are gone I then have to wait until the following Monday at 10am and so on.

My wifes practice doesn't have this stupid rule.

I once set in my GPS practice waiting room and I was the only one there. I could see three receptionists on their phones and one typing. As I was called by the nurse who I had to give bloods to in order to continue one of my meds I walked down the corridor and passed by 3 GPS rooms who all were set at thwir computers amd no patients.

My wifes practice has 3 drs on duty daily amd always busy as I've had many a day to sit with her in hers.

Also getting g an appointment in her GPS practice is not a problem and the receptionists are polite and helpful u like my GPS.

Sp please help what is the rule that I will have to get a reassessment with pip plus do I have to I form thwm of a change of gp

Updating PIP with your new GP details will not trigger a reassessment.

TThank You for your quick reply…kimi87

Ill be visiting my wifes gp practice and fill in moving forms.

My deceased gp will be turning in his grave at how his practice has changed for the worse.

You are already in receipt of PIP and not going through the processes of claiming. Changing your GP after a decision has been made about your claim does not need to be reported to the DWP.

That is incorrect, you must notify pip of any change of personal circumstances including changing gp!

    You are right:

    https://www.gov.uk/pip/change-of-circumstances#:~:text=You%20must%20also%20contact%20the,behalf%20and%20that%20person%20changes

I suggest @masser phones as soon as possible and follows up the call with a letter to PIP, retaining a copy on his PC or a photocopy. It's wise to keep a record of any dealings with the DWP.

    Copied from the link above.

You must also contact the PIP enquiry line straight away if:

    • your personal details change, for example your name, address, phone numbers, bank account or doctor
    • someone is acting on your behalf and that person changes

These changes will not affect your eligibility for PIP or how much you get.

    Thank you all

Changing gos I'll phone pip and write them a letter

It's madness to think that they need a change of drs when they know everything they can see online

    Well they tell it so

Update in my moving to a new gp.

On Monday 20th i completed transfer forms and handed them into the gp I wish to move to. Handed over id and forms i got from various organisations to confirm my address as I only have a bus pass with my photo on it. All accepted and was told to ring the following Monday for an update.

On same evening a lady rang me to tell me that that gp doesnt prescribe one of the tablets namely gabapentin and if I wished to move to another gp to try that I said no as my wife is with this gp I decided to stay. I know I'll get a dr to interview me for examination which will be my chance to say about my gabapentin and if they don't issue it maybe replace it with something else.

    That's update news so far

Hi @masser I'm glad you've managed to change drs now. I find it strange that they don't prescribe gabapentin, I've never heard of a drs doing that. As you say though, they'll examine you as a new patient and work out the best treatment for you. I hope it all goes well.

    Thank you rachael_Scope

I rang pip to inform them and they told me once its confirmed officially to let them know

YYes I've never heard of des not prescribing the gabapentin so I googled maybe why and it seems some drs don't like thwir signatures on a script for it incase pa patient becomes addicted to the med amd something happens etc etc.

MMany Of the drs in this new surgery have retired and have been replaced with new younger drs who id suspect are of this way of thinking.

So I didn't want to say no to the lady who phoned me incase other practices in my area are the same.

So I hope the new practice can replace gabapetin with something similar thst works just as good.

So waiting for a call in coming days when to see the new practice drs or dr.

    Onwards and upwards

I hooe I've not done the wrong thing

    HHi Kimi87

    I found this out googling

I've been on it awhile take 1800 mgs a day.

So a question going through my head is if I cannot get equivalent to gabapetin and no gabapetin will this effect my pip when I've to be reassessed

Oh that's good to know @masser and @Kimi87. You haven't done the wrong thing @masser. They'll be able to find an equivalent I'm sure. Your PIP only needs to be reassessed if your needs change.
