Identification For Universal Credit Online Appication.
I have a UK driving licence and a Lloyds bank account debit card. Are these sufficient to enter the online application website to claim Universal Credit? Information given on the Government website mentions the driving licence and passport as two methods of ID but I only have the two mentioned. Any advice on this would be welcomed. Many thanks.

You make the application first, then an online attempt can be made to verify ID.
If that fails the application still goes through, and ID verification by other means is done later.

Hi,
Driving licence wasn't enough when I did mine. Needed to have both that and a passport, which I don't have.
There is the option of a credit check. But I don't have any credit either.
If your ID can't be confirmed online then you can either take more items (paperwork) into the Job Centre, or have a biographical phone call, or have a home visit.

Yes, that is what I thought. A second means of ID is needed along with a driving licence. Hopefully my bank card will suffice with my driving licence. Creating the online account is easy as this ony requires the answer of straightforward questions and an email address and mobile phone number. If my method of online ID is not acceptable (driving licence and bank card sent by photogaphic means) I will, of course, phone the help line to continue the application. Many thanks for your fast reply. I will let you know how I get on.

No problem. We all need a bank card for UC though. That is not accepted as the second form of photographic ID for the online system.
If your ID can't be verified online, you do not have to call them yourself. The claim can still be submitted. They will then leave a message in your journal to explain the next steps for ID verification.

Many thanks to you both for really fast replies. I feel a lot better now.

At the job centre, I showed my driving licence, current account bank card, and a council tax letter. I was in and out in minutes, no problems.

My wife and I are a mixed age couple so will make a joint claim. I am housebound and can only manage a few yards on my zimmer and my wife cannot face Jobcentres as she has two severe mental illnesses. We would have to prove our ID status over the phone or, if they will not allow this, through a home visit which can take a very long time I hear. It is a pity that the online ID method is so limited as not everyone has a driving licence, a passport and the other methods given.
