Hi, my name is SistaBlues! Lost the sight in one eye, should I ask for compensation from NHS?
Hello
I’m new here…any suggestions on what I should do about an operation that left me with severe sight loss in my right eye.
I am self employed in entertainment and also as a Child Chaperone, this sight loss has not stopped me from taking jobs but has made movement cautiously difficult.
Stairs, walking, reading, my depth of field and even colour has been affected.
Do I ask for compensation in an already strapped NHS?
Can I apply for assistance due to help when I can not physically accept some jobs?
Thank You in advance for your support.

The NHS has insurance to pay out compensation which is funded from a different pot of money.
This article is written by a solicitor, but the information can be verified elsewhere.
I would suggest speaking to local welfare rights, they can advise you of what you can claim benefits wise and assist with form filling, I always recommend getting outside help to fill in the medical assessment forms.
For support and advice around sight loss I'd recommend
