Yes, what a fabulous idea! Write him to ask! 😁. Here's one I just did by another beautiful voice - Chris Hemsworth....
Are you okay today? I seem to remember your partner is out over Christmas.

Ah, that’s very considerate of you, Starry. Nope, I won’t be alone any of the Xmas days, we don’t celebrate any of these things and are simply staying in with the two of us. The way I am housebound there is practically nothing for me to do outdoors that I can handle apart from a stroll with the wheelchair. Not to mention not being close to those we used to meet for the holidays. But we happily had short walk around the block with me in the wheelchair last Sunday.
Indeed I was struggling this morning, thinking of the days ahead. My neighbor (who is very dear to me and also supportive) would be away during the festivities, so somehow I dreaded to see her car gone – as if that somehow symbolizes everyone going out and about, having all that physical freedom, but not me.
Thankfully, I am hanging in there, hopefully not much anxiety, but it may always pop back up. Even when I think I am feeling slightly better. But hey, it is okay not to be okay, right?
I got that from leafing through Luminous Darkness yesterday. Mentioning it to you a few days ago made me want to get it from the bookshelf. Are you looking forward to Xmas? Or are these difficult days for you? You might have mentioned it in another thread here online, I am not sure...

Hi! I hope you liked the meditation. She's not really for me, as you might have guessed, because she was so focused on light, light, light, love, love love. I won't criticize more than that, since my comments are public here, and I don't want to diss her.
Yes, I really like Christmas, because it is so intense with such a range of emotions that it really speaks to who I am, because that is who I am. It's incredibly overwhelming, but I always find life overwhelming, so at least many people are feeling the same as I usually feel. And I typically live year round with a lot of grief and sadness, as do a lot of other people at Christmas. So it's a season that I feel most connected to the world. Does that make sense?

I deleted by mistake the rest of my response to your post and I'll include it now in case you're already reading and miss the addition...
It's good that you've got company. I know what you mean about people being mobile while we aren't. The world is so different now with my mobility devices. There's so much I can't do now and it's so difficult to move about. I always had trouble with crowds because of dreadful anxiety. Now it's even more of a nightmare. Today would be the worst day to go out. So, like you, I just stayed inside today. And that's okay. I'm fortunate to have a cozy little apartment and a very snuggly kitty cat.

Yo @StarryEyed - Indeed, I also wasn't very taken with this session. Unlike her stuff that is freely available on IT (about light and love coming from within, you are enough, don't go try and be whatever the world wants you to be) this one was way too much about the festivities, about opening presents and eating food with others. Hmmmm… But I haven't given up on her, she is very good at reminding me I am worthy :)
I don't know how to phrase the next thing I want to say without controlling the outcome or my tone of voice of this post (with the risk of getting it wrong, you misunderstanding me, etc.), but I am amazed that you've got things that overwhelm you. To me you look very put together, someone who knows how to deal with things, like the weekend before last when you told me to sit with my struggles and sit with it some more… Did you mention anxiety?
Sending you love, Starry. I had fun and felt like a fellow human being talking to you today, it was nice being both in the same session - even a session that wasn't for us.

Good morning, @SmellyBin and a very Merry Christmas to you and your partner.
🎄🕯️🎄🕊️🎄
I loved meditating with you too!
There was no offense taken in what you said. After sleeping late, I'm rushing around getting ready for Christmas lunch, so will write more tonight. Have a beautiful day. Much love and Christmas hugs to you and your partner 💝😘💝

I appreciate you sharing this; it was fascinating to read . Your description of meditation as just "thinking deeply" makes it seem much more approachable. I've only really experimented with mindfulness and quick body scans, but learning about the variety of methods and how they might meet various requirements is beneficial. want to learn about the experiences of others as well.

Hi @Zakholland441 You're welcome and Merry Christmas. What in particular are you looking for in meditation? I'd love to hear stories from others too. Maybe @SmellyBin you want to share yours?
Hi @SmellyBin Yes, I have a wide range of being exceptionally put together to completely nonfunctional. Because I can often hold it together so well, people typically don't believe I have mental illness - including professional healthcare providers. This works both for and against me. But those who have seen me fall apart know my illness is very real. One of the reasons I can hold it together is because of meditation practices described in this thread.

Hello fellow meditating people! I was wondering if it would be nice to sit and meditate together… I'll be meditating for 20 - 30 min starting around 5 UK or 6 EU time or a few minutes after that.
Would anyone like to join me? Just sit or lie down and meditate like you normally would - either on your own or guided from something online - yet while doing it around the same time so this could be some sort of link for us being together?

Hi @SmellyBin 👋🏼 Thank you for the offer. 🙏🏼What a beautiful photo!
In one of my first posts I talked about this program I'm doing on mindfulness meditation for chronic pain relief:
In case anyone wants to know more about it, here's a really good video I just found by the author Jon Kabat-Zinn explaining this approach:

Ooooh, I've wanted to read Jon Kabat-Zinn's Catastrophe Living for ages, @StarryEyed! How is the course going? And how are you today?
I am a big fan of Vidyamala who is also into chronic pain. Does Jon Kabat-Zinn have issues with chronic pain himself?

Hello Sweetheart!! I'm good thank you! And you?
I don't think JKZ has pain problems himself as he's never mentioned it. Catastrophe Living is also about the pain clinic, but that book was first published in 1990. The Pain book I mentioned was first published in 2009, so it's really more relevant. However, the Catastrophe book is written, whereas the Pain book is an audiobook with meditations. So it depends upon what you're looking for.
I love the Pain book, having first 'read' it I think about two years ago, and I keep doing meditations repeatedly, with intermittent breaks. It has drastically changed the perception of my pain and my pain connection.
Do you have issues with pain?

@SmellyBin I've just signed up for chair yoga on New Year's Day, 4PM. Does that interest you? (I think that's 3 PM UK time.)

New Year Chair Yoga
With Joy Bartholomew
Join me for a gentle New Year’s Day chair yoga class designed for all ages and fitness levels. This is a practice to start off the year with movement and clarity. It’s great for those seeking a low-impact way to boost flexibility, strength, and mindfulness. This class uses a chair for support allowing the practice to be more accessible. Whether you're recovering from an injury, managing stress, or simply looking to enhance your well-being, let's flow through seated poses and breathe deeply. Stretch, relax, and find balance - all from the comfort of your chair. **No chairs with wheels for safety purposes**

Yo @StarryEyed, I am doing alright right now, thanks.
No chronic pain for me, but pain incidentical almost every day - how come 'incidentical' is not a word? Isn't it a lovely word? Should it be 'incidentally?' Yeah, probably. I am rambling, because I am in a good mood, having gotten myself through another day this December. And I listened to a guided meditation about Wu Wei on IT, about (to put it simply) to go with the flow, no force for things to be other than they are, sailing instead of rowing. It works better for me to listen to something like this and be reminded about it when I have a bit more space, than when I am actual need of wisdom, but am struggling. Am I making sense?
Oh, back to JKZ, I prefer the book as I think it is more about neuroscience and our mental difficulties with struggles? On the other hand, there are more books on mindfulness I want to read, like anything by Sharon Salzberg for instance. To rewrite our thinking patterns when we are suffering, instead of adding more. The neuroscience part is fascinating to me and helps me understand my own criticism.
Ah, thanks for the chair yoga suggestion. It will depend on the last minute moment…
