Hi,
Have you contacted the school or your local council to ask whether they can help with school transport at all?

I'd suggest contacting your local social services to ask that the children be assigned a social worker, who can help look after their interests including getting them to school. They could also signpost to resources for activities and groups which would help the children cope with your situation.
It's something of a myth that social services involvement has a goal of putting the children into care, that isn't the case at all it's very expensive for the local authority and only in rare cases best for the children themselves.
