This is one of the latest articles I saw from the Guardian, mostly about the potential Motability changes: https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2025/oct/17/chancellor-says-she-cant-leave-welfare-untouched-this-parliament-ahead-of-tough-budget

I think we'll be hearing quite a lot from Reeves in the next few weeks leading up to the Autumn Budget. Hopefully we'll get some more clarity and as always I'm sure Scope will be campaigning hard against anything that could be harmful to disabled people.

Yes, it’s the bond markets driving this pressure. If they think Reeves isn’t serious about controlling spending, they could raise borrowing costs or trigger instability.

The Institute for Fiscal Studies flagged this directly in their October 2025 analysis. They warned Reeves needs to show “credible intent” to fix public finances, and called welfare reform the bellwether of whether markets trust her.

Nothing’s confirmed, but the analysis lines up with reports that she’s looking at Motability vehicle cuts and tougher rules for under-25s.

She has been saying that all along but she hasn't actually specified what 'benefits' she definitely intends to cut just vague ideas.

We will find out soon enough one way or another.
