Do I need to inform dla of another Diagnosis or can it wait?

My son has just been diagnosed with Autism.I am so anxious about informing Dla incase they stop his current claim so can I just wait until his claim is up to renewed in a couple of years and let them know then?.His needs are still the same so he doesn't need or qualify for a higher rate so its just the diagnosis that's changed really.
