Jobs are all sorts of competitive markets SAStrooper.

Not to belittle it but everyone who's worked has faced the problem you are.

What worked for me were middle lines between what I'd prefer to do and what businesses would pay me to do.

It's likely to be complicated, in my experience that's just how money is.

Help should be available to you, have you asked a social worker or occupational therapist?

Please keep trying. Ironically it's worked for me!

Hello there, its easy to be disheartened but do seek support via local groups and the Jobcentre. Remember your worth is as a unique individual and not in your ability to work or having a job.

Lots of jobs are found online via networking contacts....

    All the best

Governments of all colours, politicians of all parties, and the media of all political leanings have lately making the public believe that decent well-paid job vacancies are abandonly out there but that millions of workshy British people are parked on benefits.

"In September 2025, 1.7 million people were claiming unemployment benefits in the UK. Additionally, about 30% of all employees, which is roughly 12.7 million people, were actively looking for a new job in 2025."

If such decent well-paid job vacancies are abandonly out there, why not support those millions of people who are actively looking either for a job or a new job, instead of demonising and getting obsessed with the sick and disabled people!

    Hi @SAStrooper

I've found job hunting a challenge throughout my life. I spent years submitting applications and getting rejections. But eventually I found a job where I was happy for a while. I still faced discrimination and as a young person in the 90's this was tough. I didn't have the confidence to speak up.

I retrained as a counsellor in my 40's and this opened a new chapter in my life. Things can happen when you least expect it. I know that's probably easier for me to say, now I'm on the other side. But I do understand how it feels. Please be kind to yourself.

Have you considered contacting our Scope Employment Service for some advice and guidance.

Why is the system censoring "sixty nine"? See my previous post.

    This is funny!

@Passerby I've changed the number to 7 as the other number gets caught by our filter!
