Universal credit migration help esa
Hi there I'm just doing some research for my mum as she's a little confused about the change over .
She receives ESA every 2 weeks for example.
She gets paid esa one week then week after that pip the week after ESA then nothing then ESA again.
She has moved to universal credit and her first payment Date is the 15th November.
She had a payment of ESA on the 21st and was told by universal credit help that she will receive her last ESA payment on the 4th November is that correct, she is confused as people can also get paid esa weekly and we're told they received the last payment 2 weeks before there universal credit payment starts .
Just a little confused any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

It isn't possible to be paid ESA weekly.
I wouldn't rely on UC to give out correct advice about ESA.
What date did she apply for UC?
I suspect the payment on the 21st might have been her last IR ESA.
It ends as soon as the UC application is made, apart from a final payment known as the run on payment. This arrives around 2 weeks later.
Around 3 weeks after that the first UC payment arrives.
If at the time of application she was receiving both CB & IR ESA (many don't know until they migrate), then the CB ESA changes into New Style ESA automatically and is paid at a rate of £281.10 a fortnight on the normal payment cycle.
If this is the case she will also see a £609.05 deduction on her UC statement.
UC is a monthly benefit and NS ESA weekly, so the deduction is always done as an average for 30 days worth. To convert a weekly benefit into a monthly you multiply the weekly amount by 52 then divide by 12.

It does seem like she has now had her final IR ESA payment.
More ESA will only be received if as I advised her previous award was CB +IR.
