Doubtful, Universal Credit was announced as policy in 2010 to replace 6 income based benefits including IR ESA, before starting in 2013.

What is substantial risk on the part of support group. I have had a wca in September and was moved from lcw to support group. I struggle with physical and mental health.

I have had a reply on my uc journal about uc and new style esa. It said All esa claimants are being moved to uc and new style esa if eligible, you will receive new style esa from esa and uc will take the income related esa.

Yet I was on ir esa, and maybe it was because I was in part time work until 23. Before I did part time work I was on carers allowance and I you get NI contributions

If you had sufficient NI Contributions from previously working, your ESA award would have been Contributions Based topped up by Income Related.

Lots of people are mistaken about their previous ESA award and only find out for sure after migrating.

Oh I had no idea, I was doing permitted work as part of the esa. As it was 10 hours

I've just read your post properly.

The combination of Carers Allowance & previous work is likely where your entitlement to CB ESA came from.

Oh right thanks, yes I know I had a letter when I had my esa reinstated after going through a tribunal in 2019. The letter said my cb esa had stopped but as I was working part time as well , I applied for permitted work . They are very confusing . I was surprised when she rang from the jobcentre and said I was on the new style esa and uc. The letter is on its way. It was for acceptance of committed which to let her know if any changes occur

I was also on CB now NS ESA without paying NI Contributions.

I claimed the old Incapacity Benefit under special youth rules after I finished my education. This was a CB benefit.

When Incapacity Benefit ended, it then converted into CB ESA with an IR top up if applicable.

I think that's where mine must have come from too considering my last job was in 1999
