Universal Credit review
Recently told to submit bank statements and everything else anyway in my account over the last 5 months my parents have been giving me money to the total of £8,000 didn't stay in my account long it was to pay large debts and stuff . I didn't tell UC as I was under the impression if its not kept as savings you are OK but I have read that im so wrong and unless I can use the fact im totally ignorant and didn't bother checking think I have a massive problem here ! Wasn't trying to hide the money because if I was i could have had cash ! Does anyone know what this situation is going to look like for me . I bet the review team at UC just cant wait to interrogate me , and this will sure make their xmas !

Hi,
All money that you have access to is counted is capital (savings).
What matters for UC is the amount on the final day of your AP each month.
If you had £8000 on the final day of the AP for 5 months then there will be approximately £175 to pay back. Plus a small fixed penalty fine of £50.
If you plead ignorance, they might waive the £50 fine.
If the £8000 was paid in smaller amounts, and the total never went over £6000, then there won't be anything to pay back.
