Can I work ontop of working capability and receiving carers and UC?
Hi I receive universal credit and I’m also on limited working capability and I am receiving carers element for looking after my mother. I started working self employed 3 years ago and I can’t stick to it long term due to my mental health and depression I always quit as it gets too much for me. I don’t feel capable of working but i need something to help keep me occupied so I want to try doing it again but do less and just earn myself abit of money. My question is number one can I actually work while receiving all these benefits without it affecting them? And how much can I earn before it affects them? I receive approx £800 in total from benifits.

If you claim Housing Element you can earn £411 a month before UC make their standard deduction of 0.55p for every pound earned.
If you don't claim HE the amount is £684 a month.
This is known as the work allowance.

thank you so I worked out I get £795.64 in benefits if I earned let’s say £684 It wouldn’t effect any benefits ? That’s £1479.64 a month. Would I also have to pay tax if I earned that each month for the year?
