That French bloke probably believes we have the 'wrong type' of Brexit. We didn't go hard and fast enough etc. It will never be his fault.

As above, he's not saying Brexit was bad. He's saying the type of Brexit we ended up with is not the one he wanted. He has no intention of getting back into the EU, just getting (what he considers) a better type of Brexit.

In fairness, I don't know of many Brexit-voters who are happy with the way Brexit was done. Which is interesting considering no-one that voted remain is happy with it either. They've managed to take the will of half of the country and end up with a solution that no-one likes…

Brexit voters will never like the Brexit deal they get cause the Brexit vote was never about the UK leaving the European but about something else.
