Are you sure that's still the case? Private rents have increased ridiculously in the last couple of years. Mine has gone up by £175 so far (over 30%), and will go up again by at least another £50 if I'm still here in a few months time. Even for a small studio flat in my area it's over £700 a month now. A small 2-bed terraced house is just under £1000 a month now. And a 2-bed flat can cost more than that!
