Resignation from employment affect ESA?
Hi, I'm new here, so first post.
I've been absent from my job for a long time and was receiving Income protection payments and I'm in an ESA support group. My income protection is ending soon and they want me to either resign or let me go due to ill health. If I resign, will this affect my ESA payments? I honestly cant go through the process of being let go due to ill health with doctors reports, meeting etc. Thank you

Hi @pumac and welcome to the community! If you're in the ESA support group then it shouldn't affect your payments as it's based on your health, not your employment status.
I'd recommend speaking to someone before you resign to make sure your rights are respected. Here's some information from ACAS that might help .

Thank you, I checked further and I should be ok. I advised the ESA helpline about my change of circumstances and they confirmed I'll receive ESA until my state pension begins at 67.
