WCA and state pension
hi everyone
Any advice please.
I have been on UC and have now been sent an appointment for a WCA on 12 december
I am a single claimant and a widow
I rang them and asked if it was worth attending as i reach state pension age and retire on 22 december, and the decision most probably wont ever be made.
They insisted i attend and said if i dont they will refer me back to the DWP as non attendance and i may be sanctioned.
Question is will my last UC payment be stopped because of not attending.
it really seems to be a pointless exercise for 2 weeks
many thanks

You are right that it seems a pointless exercise to attend this appointment, however, I have found the DWP to be extremely pedantic about their ways of running things. I would attend it just so everything runs smoothly and your transition from UC to pension is not messed up in any way.

Hi @sightunseen. I agree with IconicCat in that it seems silly but I'd recommend going.
