It would be illegal to use on the pavement and road with the limiter removed.

It would also void the warranty…

Many owners seek to unlock their scooters to reach speeds of up to 15 mph for a smoother journey and more flexibility. This can be done through a professional speed unlock service, which safely adjusts the scooter's performance. Therefore, it is recommended to consult with a professional for this service.

Hi @paulmcg, as Wibbles mentioned, there are some rules about speeds that you need to be careful about. Be sure to have a check of the rules on the government website before you make any decisions about altering your scooter. There's some information here: https://www.gov.uk/mobility-scooters-and-powered-wheelchairs-rules/classes

If you run into a pedestrian at 15 mph, i imagine you will be prosecuted as if you were driving a motor vehicle. 4 mph on the pavement, 8 mph on the road. It is illegal in the UK to exceed 8mph on a class 3 scooter.

I suppose you could apply to change to 'not in class', but that is a matter for the DVLA. You will need a full UK driving licence, and be restricted to driving on the road.

I don't know why i bother with the rules sometimes, as young teens have carte blanche to tear about on electric dirt bikes, capable of 60 mph.

Had that issue in my town, but the Police must have done a good job, they did not last long...

These lads aren't doing their speeding in a town, but it is still dangerous behaviour. Gus has been close to getting wiped out as they fly towards us, in unlighted darkness too.

I can't understand why their parent(s) spend thousands, then tell them to go forth and cause a nuisance. I wasn't even allowed out without being asked if i had my bike, as in push bike lights with me. They even do wheelies, which i don't know how you can without a clutch.

It was like that in my town with those bikes and scooters but I don't see them at all now. One kid damaged a taxi and obviously they are not insured. That taxi driver made a big issue out of it and there has been a decline in the use of them since!
