Bedroom tax
Hello
We have recently moved to a bungalow (private tenant ) as my husband was unable to cope with stairs in the previous house.
I told UC that we do have a spare room now but I sleep in there due to my husbands critical illness neuropathy (I was sleeping on the sofa in the previous house ) and wanted to be exempt from bedroom tax.
I have since received a letter from UC refusing my request and we will be charged bedroom tax due to the fact we are renting and we can reasonably share a bedroom and have got back to them asking for them to review this . My husband is on enhanced PiP, LCWRA , ESA and as his carer , I am on CA.
Are UC correct in stating they are will charge us bedroom tax ? I’ve not dealt with both this before so reaching out for advice.
many thanks

UC can and will pay for an extra bedroom under those circumstances.
Hopefully they change their minds.
