Here is one of Sabrina and Ruben Veliz doing tango.
I did have dancing classes as a little girl I did ballet and tap and then when I was older I did Latin dancing.
I love their dancing.

I do love it. Truly magical.
This is the rumba danced by Sabin and Karina.
The rumba is called”the dance of love” characterised by slow fluid movement and storytelling.
Latin dancing to me is performing art. Deeply expressive.

I've never seen the rumba, and that video just took my breath away. Gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous! Thank you for posting that. When you took Latin dancing lessons, which dances did you learn? Do you have any more such videos?
Here's another one for you that you might like since you took tap dancing. There's some tap dancing in this. I just love this video and song. I'm crazy about Christopher Walken, who dances here to the song 'Weapon of Choice' by Fatboy Slim.
(@Ross1975 introduced me to liminal spaces in another thread, and I can't help but wonder if he might consider some of these scenes as liminal spaces.)

@StarryEyed I love Christopher Walken too and watched this video a few times over the weekend! It's so great! I didn't watch the making of video that followed cos don't want to spoil it. Tune! Hotels are a liminal space, I think. The Overlook Hotel in The Shining being a great example!
I am watching Ricky Gervais do one of his Sunday lives. For me a guaranteed laugh.

Hi @StarryEyed I loved the video Christopher Walkden dancing was wonderful.
The Latin dances I learned were Jive, Rumba, Samba, Cha-Cha and Paso Doblo.
The Paso Doblo originated in Spain and related to bull fighting.
The Tango is a ballroom dance I went to a different class for that.
Paso Doblo.
Strictly Come Dancing is a dancing competition where only one of the partners is a professional dancer the other learns over a number of weeks of intense training.

Hi @Legwax 👋. Oh how delightful to meet a Christopher Walken fan! I adore him. I was saying in the liminal thread that perhaps one could consider some personalities as being liminal, suggesting Christopher Walker as being one of them. What do you think? Looking again at the video, in fact I don't think the spaces are really liminal, but Christopher Walker is and radiates this all around him. 😁 Do you have any favourite movies of his?
Ricky Gervais? Omg have you seen his dramedy series about suicide called 'After Life'? It's absolutely brilliant IMO, from the perspective of someone who thinks about suicide chronically. Some of his other stuff I find just too purposefully offensive without really any other point. But to each their own.

@Bluebell21 those two dances didn't really grab me as the movements are too jerky and fast for my liking. I'm not familiar with the other dances in you class repertoire. How is it that a person in Britain gets into Latin dancing? My friend from England who lived here for five years took salsa dancing. Latin dancing is very popular here, but it makes sense because a lot of Latin people live here and the music is influenced by Spanish music and it's the same language. So I'm interested to hear why it appeals to you.

Hi @StarryEyed I saw some Latin dancing on TV and liked the fast intense movement. So thought I would give it a try.
I stopped taking classes when I went to University then life just took over.
I still like watching the dancing the rumba in particular.

Have you explored swing dancing on YouTube? I love watching that. People typically dress informally, so that makes for a relaxing vibe. It's typically improv, which makes it more raw and spontaneous. The music is typically well-known songs with anything from the blues, to pop, to jazz, to rock....really anything. The dancing is done according to the music as well as often the lyrics. It's typically playful, sometimes silly and often sensual. On YouTube they're less formal about the swing categories and often even throw in dance moves from other types of dancing - anything from ballet to Latin dancing - but the core is always swing. Here is one of my favourite female dancers, Emeline Rochefeuille, followed by her dancing with one of my favourite male dancers, KP Rutland.

Hi Ross. They park like that here in Spain and it boggles my mind. You'd never see that in Canada with the wide open spaces, but where space is at a premium the parking spaces are teensie. In the video situation, she might lightly touch the car, knowing precisely how much to touch, just like a feather with zero damage. It's an art. A delicate art. 😊
