hi. I am looking to apply for a budgeting advance, I’ve never had one from UC just the advance payment when I first claimed.
I need a new bed but I’m worried I won’t get it as I live with parents, does anyone have any advice on how I could ask to make sure my application is approved? Thank you

Hi @twotothreexx. The criteria specifies:
- You need to have been receiving UC for more than 6 months
- You must not have earned more than £2,600 in the past 6 months
- You must have paid off any previous Budgeting Advance loans
When deciding whether you can have a Budgeting Advance they will look at:
- Your circumstances, and
- Any existing Budgeting Loan/Advance you owe, and
- Your savings, and
- Your ability to pay back the Budgeting Loan/Advance.
If you are turned down, you can appeal the decision.
I don't have personal experience of this so I'm not sure whether living with your parents will affect the decision. Hopefully one of our members has been through this before and can advise you. You should be honest in your application and hopefully you will be approved.
